SCHLOSS THORN
view from the Mosel
SCHLOSS THORN, is situated on the bank of the
southern Mosel river, in the heart of Europe near the
meeting point of France, Germany and the Grand-
Duchy of Luxembourg.
The origin of SCHLOSS THORN goes back to the
Romans, who - over 2,000 years ago - built a tower
wherefrom they observed and protected a close-by
ford. This tower, latin word: "turris", gave the name
to the castle.
After the Romans had left, SCHLOSS THORN
became a property of the Church until, in 1534,
Baron von Hobe-Gelting´s family acquired castle and
wine estate.
Nowadays Dr. Baron von Hobe-Gelting, in tradition
with his ancestors bound himself to the quality
principles of the more than two milleniums old wine
tradition.
Thus today´s wine connaisseurs admire the elegant,
spicy and fruity bouquet and taste of the
SCHLOSS THORN wines and Sekt.
SCHLOSS THORN Sekt and wines are made entirely
from grapes grown in the castle´s vineyards and are
estate bottled.
